Electronic Load Controller based on Modified Firefly Algorithm to Reduce Frequency Fluctuation of Generator in Micro Hydro Power Plants

Modified Firefly Algorithm (MFA) is a model of particle swarm intelligence which adopts the behavior fireflies, in form mutual attraction to light intensity between one firefly and another. By using this method, PID tuning approach carried out so that it will get parameter value on Electronic Load Controller (ELC) system. In MFA process, repeated up 100 iterations achieve optimal or near-optimal parameters. The main objective improve response characteristics ELC Micro Hydro Power Plants (MHP). After parameter, be applied can work more optimally when switching power. This make generator rotational speed stable frequency remains within applicable standards Indonesia, namely 47.5 – 51.5 Hz. results applying FA into microcontroller maintain there change use output power, interval 50.1 Hz - addition, resulting voltage becomes stable, 223.6 222.2 Volts. These compared with testing generators without are very different. Where 46.7 244.5 214.2 Volt interval.
